Confederation of UNESCO Clubs and Associations of India (CUCAI) was founded during a convention of UNESCO Clubs and Associations in India, held at USO House, New Delhi, on 15-16 April, 1989. Formation of CUCAI received support of the India National Commission for Cooperation with UNESCO (INC), Ministry of Human Resource Development, and Government of India.
AIMS AND OBJECTIVES
To popularize the aims and objectives of the United Nation’s Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) and to promote its programmes and activities amongst the masses in India.
To promote International Understanding, Peace and Cooperation through Education, Science, Culture and Mass Communication.
To provide a common national platform for all UNESCO Clubs, Centre and Associations in India and to present a unified UNESCO Club Movement in the country.
To cooperate with the Indian National Commission for Cooperation with UNESCO (INC) in its programmes and activities.
To popularize the programmes and activities of the United Nations and its specialized agencies through member UNESCO Clubs, Centre and Associations.
To represent India in the World Federation of UNESCP Clubs, Centre and Associations (WFUCA), Asian Pacific Federation of UNESCO Clubs and Associations (AFUCA), and other International and Regional Organisations.
OFFICE-BEARERS AND GOVERNING BODY
The administration and financial control of CUCAI is vested in the Executive Council which comprises of the President, two Vice-Presidents, Secretary General, Treasurer and ten Members, all elected at the Biennial Meeting of the General Council representing various UNESCO Clubs, Centre and Associations in different States.
President is the Head and Secretary General is the Chief Executive of CUCAI.
Presently Prof. Sarabjit Singh Chinna, University Professor (Retd) is the President, Mr. Dhirendra Bhatnagar is Secretary General and Mr. Yogesh Kumar is the Treasurer. Mr. Suresh P. Prabhu, Member of Parliament (Rajya Sabha) is the Honorary President of CUCAI.

AFFILIATION WITH WORLD BODIES
CUCAI is a member of the World Federation of UNESCO Clubs, Centres and Associations (WFUCA), Paris and the Asia Pacific Federation of UNESCO Clubs and Associations (AFUCA), Tokyo.
(Individual UNESCO Clubs can not become the members of WFUCA and AFUCA. It is only through their National Federation that they can have links with these organizations.
RELATIONS WITH INDIAN NATIONAL COMMISSION FOR CO-OPERATION WITH UNESCO (INC)
CUCAI works in close cooperation and under the guidance of INC. The officials of INC have actively participated in the programmes of CUCAI. From time to time, INC gives suitable financial support for the programmes and activities of CUCAI. INC has also organized programmes together with CUCAI
RELATIONS WITH UNESCO HEADQUARTERS, PARIS
The activities and programmes of CUCAI have received recognition and appreciation from UNESCO Headquarters in Paris. CUCAI receives suitable financial assistance for specific programmes from UNESCO Headquarters. The officials from UNESCO headquarters in Paris, specially from the Division of National Commissions and UNESCO Clubs, have visited the office of CUCAI in New Delhi and guided the deliberations of the training programmes organized by CUCAI, for the leaders of UNESCO Clubs in India and Asia from time to time.
RELATIONS WITH UNESCO NEW DELHI OFFICE
CUCAI has most cordial relations with UNESCO New Delhi office. The Director and officials/programme specialists of UNESCO New Delhi office have actively participated and guided the programmes organized by CUCAI, specially the training programmes and seminars organized by CUCAI from time to time, for the leaders of UNESCO Clubs in India and Asia. CUCAI has organized several programmes and activities in collaboration with UNESCO New Delhi office.
